PHASE TWO: Manuscript Refinement & Publisher Submission

The second phase of Keith's coaching program includes the necessary phone calls and emails to walk you through the specific steps needed to refine your material prior to publication. He then presents your manuscript to interested publishers. Keith can also help you map out a strategic plan to develop future books compatible with your ministry focus and help improve the marketability of your titles.

During the second phase of the coaching process, Keith will help you prepare your material for publication by guiding you, step-by-step, through any polishing or manuscript development that might be appropriate. This phase can include coaching you from concept development to the completion of a polished manuscript:
  • Walk you through implementation of editorial recommendations
  • Provide feedback as you progress through specific assignments
  • Offer valuable insight into theme development
  • Help you maintain consistency and a smooth flow throughout your manuscript
  • Identify and remove reader "speed bumps" that distract from your primary message
  • Help you stay focused on marketability issues to broaden the appeal of your material
  • Provide direction to help you develop your long-range writing ministry
  • Be available for unlimited phone and email consultation, chapter reviews and a second over-all manuscript review.
Keith's personal coaching can help you clarify your message, simplify the writing process, and present your message in a consistent manner. For the author who wants to write a book from an idea or a teaching, Keith can help you organize your thoughts for a book, find and develop your writing style, and help you connect with your reader so you effectively communicate your message.

The coaching needs of new authors can greatly differ from experienced ones. If you're an experienced author, does your manuscript contain the "Three Dynamics" of great books? Are these three properly implemented throughout your book to keep your reader coming back for more, chapter by chapter? The industry reports that of all the books purchased to be read, only twenty-five percent are ever fully read. Ask yourself the following questions:
  • Is my manuscript properly focused for my existing audience and a wider readership?
  • Can my chapter titles in the Table of Contents properly intrigue a prospective reader?
  • Will each chapter so satisfy readers, that they can't wait to read another?
Keith can provide the insight you may need to help develop your current manuscript and future titles. This will insure that your books are compatible with your ministry focus, appeal to your existing market and a wider readership, thus improving the marketability of your titles. This becomes more and more important in an increasingly competitive book market.

The next step of this phase follows the completion of your manuscript. When you and your material are ready, Keith will present your manuscript to interested publishers appropriate for you and your material and ministry desire. Keith stays aware of market trends and observes publishers' track records and tendencies while keeping his pulse on the industry's current swings. He will work to make sure your manuscript's presentation is geared to what a publisher is interested in and is looking for.

Keith is comfortable proceeding at your pace and will offer you timely, insightful and sensitive help through the process. As a client, you will receive priority status on Keith's email response and phone schedule.
